OKN-170

OKN-170       Galena, Sphalerite, Quartz     Dal'negorsk, Kavalerovo Mining District, Primorskiy Kray, Far-Eastern Region, Russia.  A 5 x 4.7 x 3.6 cm piece that is basically a large "cityscape" galena with twinned sphalerites and small quartz crystals here and there as accessories.  There are no points of contact so it is a floater and there is no damage either.  Very intricate and interesting.  There is a lot going on here and it is very difficult to catch it all in the photos.    $90

OKN-171

OKN-170       Galena, Chalcopyrite, Pyrrhotite, Quartz     Dal'negorsk, Kavalerovo Mining District, Primorskiy Kray, Far-Eastern Region, Russia.  A great combination piece with a large galena that is twinned, bright white quartz and interlocking chalcopyrites.  The pyrrhotite is well formed and everything except two tiny quartz crystals are in perfect condition.  9.8 x 4.7 x 4.5 cm.  Nice patina on this classic piece.  $195

Back/ base

OKN-172       Galena and Sphalerite     Dal'negorsk, Kavalerovo Mining District, Primorskiy Kray, Far-Eastern Region, Russia.  This floater has no damage and is quite attractive for a galena specimen.  The sphalerites are small but lustrous and scattered over one side of the specimen extending into the central regions.  Cup shaped, light patina/ higher luster for the most part, cubes modified by octahedrons with some twinning.  Very nice!  $175

OKN-173       Calcite on Quartz     Dal'negorsk, Kavalerovo Mining District, Primorskiy Kray, Far-Eastern Region, Russia.  A3 plus cm calcite on a bed of quartz with an unknown brown colored mineral.  Only one small quartz is missing so it is in nice condition for a piece this size (12 x 9 x 3.8 cm).  Back is partially crystallized too.  $80

OKN-174

OKN-174       Pyrrhotite     Dal'negorsk, Kavalerovo Mining District, Primorskiy Kray, Far-Eastern Region, Russia.  This example is an elongated grouping of crystals in great shape.  Base contact extends slightly a little ways up edges but not enough to distract from any view.  Looks good from front, back sides, top.  Very nice.  5.4 x 4.3 x 2.8 cm.  Nice patina on this miniature sized classic piece.  $95

Spinel law twin galena

OKN-175       Pyrrhotite and Galena on Quartz      Dal'negorsk, Kavalerovo Mining District, Primorskiy Kray, Far-Eastern Region, Russia.  This example of pyrrhotite is an elongated hexagonal, double terminated crystal in great shape that is sitting on edge.  There is a thin spinel law twinned galena that could be described the same way.  Everything sits on a bed of white quartz crystals.  Only two tiny quartz crystals are missing, everything else is free from any damage.  7.5 x 5.2 x 4 cm.  Nice patina on this miniature sized classic piece.  $140

OKN-177

OKN-177      Fluorite on Quartz pseudomorphs after Barite      Dal'negorsk, Kavalerovo Mining District, Primorskiy Kray, Far-Eastern Region, Russia.  An unusual find that has great aesthetic fluorites on an uncommon matrix of quartz after barite.  Some pyrite as an accessory and the white strips appear to be thin plates of dolomite.  8.2 x 7 x 4 cm.  Back is also well crystallized too.  No damage.  The fluorites are cubes modified by dodecs and other forms I do not recognize.  Some frosting, some growth hillocks.  The fluorites are classic, water clear, and aesthetic.   $200

Twn plane

OKN-180     Twinned Calcite    Tongloushan Excavation Site, Slag Locality, Daye County, Huangshi Prefecture, Hubei Province, China.  Very attractive clear calcite twin measuring 7 cm.  7.4 x 5.4 x 5 cm.  New material, I believe in 2015, that will rank high in a world-wide comparison for this common species.  The twin planes are thin and at first not very noticeable.  The crystal's luster is very good (depending on the crystal and the crystal face).  No damage.  Very nice internal clarity I've looked over many of these and only invested in the finest in clarity and lack of damage.  Minor calcite crystal (scalenohedrons) on rock matrix.  Nice in hand.  $200
