Quartz and Other Mineral Specimens from Greeley, Ontario

Calcite/ Dolomite/ Pyrite/ Quartz. Grant Quarry, Greeley, Ontario, Canada. Most of these specimens are composed of two or more minerals on a matrix of massive gray dolomite. That dolomite is coated on one or more sides by pink/ white dolomite crystals to 1 cm each. Calcites are scalenohedral and rhombohedral in form, sherry colored, very lustrous and up to 2 cm each (though most are less that 1 cm). Quartz is Herkimer diamond in form and very clear. Another example of difficult to find, attractive specimens, many of which are at a low price.

OKF-381 Quartz Scepters Blair Hill Farm, Greely, Ontario, Canada. Ex Dr. Steve Chamberlain collection. Previously in the Dr. George Robinson collection. Dr. George Robinson collected this piece in 1978. Of the many thousands of Herkimer diamond like quartz crystals from this region that I have inspected, this is only the second that I have ever seen which exhibits a sceptered habit. The primary pair of crystal have deep black stems which are short and were once in contact with the dolomite matrix. The crystals have beautiful smoky tint and some internal rainbows. The largest crystal has a tip ding but even with this the specimen is still important. The crystal show slightly skeletal development to their surfaces yet are still well formed. This is a fine example of Canada's version of the Herkimer diamond scepter. $200

OKD-049 Quartz/ Calcite/ Pyrite/ Dolomite Greeley, Ontario. Nicest calcite specimen I have seen from this location (and I’ve inspected many, may hundreds of these specimens). This beauty is a 8 cm high, 5 cm wide and 3.5 cm deep dolostone matrix covered by a showy mix of calcite crystals. Complex amber colored calcites to a cm with schalenohedrons overgrown by rhombohedrons. Lots of pyrite phantoms and another generation of micro crystals in areas. You will spend a long time looking this beauty over. Very interesting and showy. Exceptionally clean piece views from all sides. A couple contacts with matrix but these are all recrystallized! Top shelf specimen. 195$

EA-127 Quartz Scepter Greeley, Ontario. Smoky tint (phantom), slightly skeletal and razor sharp form. I have researched the site and believe this to be the only known scepter...5 cm high by 4 cm wide. Stem is well formed but only around a cm long. Great phantom in the stem (gray). Perfect condition. 300$

EA-128 Quartz/ Calcite/ Pyrite/ Dolomite Greeley, Ontario. Nicest matrix specimen I have seen from this location (and I¹ve inspected hundreds of these specimens). This beauty is a 10 cm high, 8 cm wide and 7 cm deep dolostone matrix covered by a showy mix of crystals. Double terminated quartz (similar to Herkimer diamonds) to over 3 cm each. There are several big ones and numerous smaller ones scattered on dolomite crystals (light gray/ tan) and micro pyrite. Complex amber colored calcites to a cm as well. Exceptionally clean piece views from front and sides only. Can be stood vertically or on its side. Exceptional example. 325$
