OKF-336 “Pocket Beryl" Ochard Quarry, Buckfield, Oxford County, Maine. Ex Dr. Steve Chamberlain collection. This is one of those exceptional specimens that one only rarely sees, even in the periodicals. Most beryl crystals from New England are embedded in pegmatite. As a result they are normally broken, poorly formed, opaque (translucent at best) and downright ugly. This specimen however came from a true pocket in which it grew freely and later was highly etched. It looks more like a piece from Brazil or Russia than from the United States. This large thumbnail measures 3 cm long and 2 cm wide and is completely damage free. It is a light lemon yellow color and gem within. It's entire external surface is highly etched with its base being less so than the rest of the crystal. It is singly terminated and has retained its hexagonal form. I don't believe it's possible to find comparison pieces on the market, so the price attached to this one may seem excessive for a thumbnail specimen. I do not feel this is the case in that it is a competitive grade specimen of great rarity. This would be a special piece for any East Coast collector especially ones specializing in New England minerals and I'm sure it will find a home very quickly. $800

OKF-357 Galena and Marcasite Tri-state District, Grace Walker Mine, Pitcher, Oklahoma. Ex. Anthony P. Dunn Collection. Circ. 1975. An interesting cluster galena crystals which have epitactic overgrowths of galena and what appears to be marcasite. The specimen is regrown on the backside and it appears to have one missing corner crystal but this area is regrown, also. Damage free, displayable, interesting and desirable. This is similar to the material photographed on page 316 of the book, "American Mineral Treasures". The specimen measures 9.6 x 9 x 4.5 cm. $225

OKF-331 Stilbite and Chabazite RESERVED Wasson’s Bluff, Nova Scotia, Canada. Ex. Dr. Steve Chamberlain Collection. This is one of the showiest miniatures I have seen from this location. It is composed of a single half of a bow tie perched on minor chabazite crystals. The images should speak for themselves. 4.2 x 3.8 x 2 cm. Zero damage, great luster and amazingly attractive in form. 150$

OKF-358 Dioptase Omaue Mine, Kaokveld, Namibia, Africa. Ex. Anthony P. Dunn Collection. Circ. 1975. This beautiful plate of crystals measures 3.5 x 2.2 x 1.5 is dominated by one large two centimeter crystal. There are very tiny crystals of calcite which are encrusted in some areas of piece and can be seen as inclusions within some of the crystals. Great views from front and sides but the photographs make it look rather average. The inclusions are wonderful! Back and bottom are contact areas. Very nice damage free piece. $190

OKF-364 Weloganite Upper Sill, Francon Quarry, Montréal, Québec, Canada. Ex Dr. Steve Chamberlain collection. This is probably the largest weloganite crystal to come from Steve's Francon quarry collection. The primary crystal measures 3.9 cm has been reattached to the nicely trimmed section of matrix. The lower termination has a small area of attachment but the rest of the crystal is very clean. The backside of the crystal is open to the vug is contained within. So even though it looks to be embedded in its opening, it sits up nicely outside of it for viewing. If this crystal was slightly better formed it would be a museum great specimen. Because it is somewhat crude I have a bargain basement price on this extremely rare piece. Weloganite crystals are almost never this large and very seldom on matrix. Very desirable, displayable and rare. $450

OKF-365 Diopside and Albite (var. Antiperthite) Rose Road Locality, Pitcairn, New York. Collected by Scott Wallace, Summer 2006. This group of highly lustrous crystals measures 4.5 x 4.1 x 3.6 cm overall. There are four primary crystals in the cluster, all of which are doubly terminated. There are two small attachment marks on the backside of the piece which will never be visible when displayed properly. I worked all summer in 2007 at this classic location in seldom found pieces this clean. This one is among the best miniatures to be found from this site and few will be released to the public. This is an excellent one to grab up at this price. An fine miniature for $65.

OKF-366 Diopside and Albite (var. Antiperthite) Rose Road Locality, Pitcairn, New York. Collected by Michael Walter, Summer 2006. This group of highly lustrous crystals measures 7.2 x 5 x 3.6 cm overall. There are several beautifully formed albite crystals to 2.7 cm each as well as numerous poorly formed ones composing the matrix of this specimen. The diopsides are to 3.7 cm each and in decent form. They are best viewed from the back of the specimen but some stick out above the albite crystals for a nice color contrast. I worked all summer in 2007 at this classic location in seldom found pieces this clean. A couple contacts mostly to the back of the specimen. Very seldom are the albite crystals from this locality so well defined. A fine, very displayable, small cabinet specimen….. $70

OKF-367 Schorl, Albite and Quartz Teston, above Shigar, Balistan, Northern areas, Pakistan. Wow! What a beautiful display specimen contrasting the white color of the albite crystals on the black tourmaline. All of this fits nicely on double terminated quartz crystals. Minor basal contact is present but doesn't show when displayed correctly. Viewable from all sides including the back where there is a small area damage near the termination of the tourmaline. This is extremely minor in no way distracts from the quality of this superior display specimen. The piece measures 7 x 4.2 x 3.9 cm overall and the tourmaline is 4.4 cm tall and 2.7 cm wide. Superior form, condition and color contrasts make this a superior piece. Mirror like luster which is not evident in the photos. $270

OKF-368 Apatite RESERVED Bear Lake, Ontario, Canada. Collected by Michael Walter in the early 1990s. This excellent, large, highly lustrous apatite crystal is a rarity for the location now. This whopper measures over 9 cm tall and is 5 cm wide. It sits on end for display nicely and has gemmy areas showing its rich green color nicely. The termination is crudely formed but far better than most from this locale. One prism face has a crystal contact near its base. Very displayable crystal and a good value at $65

OKF-369 Grossular and Vesuvianite on Clinopyroxene RESERVED York River Skarn Zone, near Bancroft, Ontario, Canada. Collected by Michael Walter, 1999. Ex Michael Walter collection. This is perhaps my favorite small cabinet specimen from this find. Now that the locality is within a Provincial Park, specimens like this will no longer be found on the market. The piece is a perfectly trimmed small cabinet specimen majoring 6.8 x 5.5 x 4 cm. Perched on it are grossular crystals to 2.3 cm in diameter which are of a wonderful cinnamon brown color. The tiny brown spots are vesuvianites which are sprinkled among the green clinopyroxenes (probably diopside) and garnets. The crystals are damage free but the lower areas of matrix are not mineralized. One crystal is hollow. Wonderful display characteristics, luster and somewhat unusual form to some of the garnets. The piece sits beautifully for display and is far, far underprice at $195
