OKQ-510

OKQ-510      Calcite       Yellow Lake Road Cut, South, Macomb, St. Lawrence County, New York.  Collected by Michael Walter.   Not many of these have ever been offered for sale because they either entered my collection or were acquired by the New York State Museum.  The find was well documented  Article .  This specimen measures 3.6 x 3.2 x 1.8 cm.  It consists of one crystal that shows the expected form, color (different at terminations, and sulfide phantoms.  The crystal is transparent to translucent and has a lightly frosted surface.  It is doubly-terminated, damage-free and has contact on the base only.  Good views from any direction.  This is an excellent thumbnail sized piece.  As good as any I kept for myself.  $40

OKQ-512    Fluorite       Weardale, England.  Ex. Dr. Steve Chamberlain collection.  This is a fine example of a penetration twin that measures 3 x 3 x 2.3 cm overall.  The large cube is 2.2 cm on edge.  The luster is outstanding and the crystals are colorful and nearly complete.  There are nice views from any direction and the minor rubs almost too minor to mention.  $65

OKQ-513    Apophyllite    La Luz Mine, La Luz, Guanajuato, Mexico.  Ex. Dr. Steve Chamberlain collection.  This specimen has lots of transparent crystals to 1.9 cm each and measures 3.5 x 3.1 x 2 cm.  Approximately 6 flat terminations are present so I will assume these to be cleaves.  I'm not sure so will error on its being damaged.  $15

OKQ-514    Spessartine   Pederneira Mine, Minas Gerais, Brazil.  Ex. Dr. Steve Chamberlain collection.  This nice red etched crystal is a floater free of damage.  It measures 2.5 x 2 x 1.1 cm.  Excellent translucence.  $70

OKQ-515    Forsterite     Suppart, Nala, Kohistan, Pakistan.  Ex. Paul and Dawne Dunning collection.  This group appears to be in parallel growth and slightly water warn or etched.  The cluster measures 2.7 x 2.1 x 2 cm overall.  It has good luster, color and nice transparency.  No damage.  Mounted in a perky box.  $95

OKQ-516    Hyalite Opal    Mitchell County, North Carolina.  Ex. Paul and Dawne Dunning collection.  This piece is composed of globular, transparent opal in attractive stacks.  Very fluorescent.  The specimen measures 3.2 x 2.8 x 1.7 cm.  No damage.  There is Styrofoam attached to bottom.  $45

OKQ-517      Aurichalcite and Calcite     79 Mine, Hayden, Arizona.  Ex. Paul and Dawne Dunning collection.  This bright, damage-free piece is coated by sprays of aurichalcite with minor white calcite on that.  It measures 3 x 2.2 x 1.3 and in mounted in a perky box.  A nice locality piece.  $40

OKQ-518     Garnet     Ruby Mountain, Thomas Range, Utah.  Ex. Paul and Dawne Dunning collection.  Tiny translucent garnets in rhyolite with an overall size of 2.5 x 2 x 1 cm.  No damage and mounted in a perky box.  $20

OKQ-519      Galena and Sphalerite     Cave-In-Rock, Illinois.  A pair of galena cubes and some tiny red sphalerites on dolostone compose this specimen.  It measures 2.8 x 2.5 x 2 cm.  The growth hillocks on the galenas are wonderful!  Very ting rub on corner of one cube.  $65

OKQ-520      Sulphur      Baja California, Mexico.  Ex. Paul and Dawne Dunning collection.  This deep yellow sulphur looks like the kind of quality we'd expect from one from Sicily.  The crystal measures 2 x 1.5 x 1.4 cm.  It is about 50% transparent and 50% highly translucent.  No damage, very minor base contact.  $50
