OKO-505

OKO-505    Rhodochrosite     N’Chwaning Mines, Kuruman, Kalahari Manganese Field, North Cape Province, South Africa.  Ex. Thomas G. Fowler collection.  This example is composed of larger crystals and measures 3 x 2.5 x 2.1 cm overall and is composed of bright, cherry red crystals on red rhodochrosite matrix.  This is an unusual piece in that I detect no damage except a small chip on the top of the piece.  It LOOKS damaged which is a problem but the surfaces are just crude in their form compared with most of the amazing material from this location or they are healed surfaces on a once damaged crystal. In either case it is attractive and unusual.  Currently mounted in a perky box.   $600
