August 2016 Update, Page 3

Treasure Mountain Herkimer diamonds… “mostly”.  I have not had any of these to post in quite some time… I finally pulled these from my collection in an attempt to stick to my goal of only collecting St. Lawrence County, New York mineral specimens.  This location was quite famous for some time but has been closed for over a decade and shows no potential to re-open its primary collecting area (the location where all the important material was found).  Peripheral locations have been worked off and on over the past few years but none have yielded the quality material found at the main ledge in 2000- 2003.

I will be culling Herks for a while so decided to start with this nice group of thumbnail sized pieces.  As would be expected of most Herkimer diamonds these quartz crystals are of exceptional luster.  They will seldom have damage, as I collected most myself and take special pains to wrap and clean them carefully.  I think you will be hard pressed to find anything from the region of this quality at a lower price.  These specimens are going to be limited so if you see something you like I suggest getting it soon.  The scepters were especially uncommon in good specimens.

There are a few Herkimer diamonds from other locations and other field collectors thrown in with this lot.  Crystal Grove and the Benchmark Quarry are examples of the other sites and these outliers are closer to the end of this page.
