The Harold L. Dibble Collection

Harold Dibble, is the author of "Quartz: An Introduction to Crystalline Quartz", and was a well known east coast collector.  He passed in 2014 and his collection of fine minerals will be offered in upcoming months.  Some of his most important specimens grace the displays in the Seaman's and Smithsonian museums.  Harold's passions also included art and he was early in recognizing minerals as Nature's works of art.  Many of his minerals reflect this ideal.

OKN-117      Calcite      Irai, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil.  Ex. Harold L. Dibble collection.  5.6 x 4 x 4 cm grouping of triangular profiled prismatic crystals of milky colored calcite to 3.5 cm each.  Edges show breakage from removal as would be expected but body of specimen is damage free. Small block of Styrofoam glued to base so the piece stands upright.   $80

Dibble collection.  One large pyrrohtite crystal measuring 5.5 x 5.1 x 2.2 cm.  Inclusions of galena and sphalerite in well formed crystals.  Nice/ proper patina for the mineral and higher luster on galena and sphalerites.  No damage, contacts are on base.  $85

Dibble collection.  An aesthetically formed grouping of nice green crystals on clear druse quartz.  No twinned crystals.  Octahedral galenas are a nice addition.  No damage only perimeter contacts.  Is glued to a circular acrylic base.  5.3 x 4 x 2.5 cm overall with cubes to .8 cm each on edge.  $150

Dibble collection.  Transparent green crystals to 2.5 cm each in a 5.1 x 4.5 x 3.2 cm grouping that is mounted on an acrylic base.  All crystals are well formed and double terminated.  Minor arsenopyrite.  One crystal has a couple tiny chips otherwise in excellent condition.  Excellent luster and arrangement.  $300

OKN-938    Cerussite   Tsumeb Mine, Tsumeb, Namibia.  A reticulated twin that is double terminated and measures 4.3 x 3.8 x 2.5 cm.  Transparent in areas but mostly nicely translucent.  Minor chipping on top/ back.  Nice condition overall with no distracting problems.  $350
